The State Teaching Hospital of the Medical University of Białystok officially began admitting patients on the 15th of December 1962. The hospital offers a wide variety of health services, ranging from simple procedures to highly specialized ones. It is the largest health care facility in the north-eastern region of Poland, fully equipped with state-of-the-art technology, and has become a teaching and research centre for the University. The hospital currently has 800 beds, allowing it to provide inpatient medical care for 24,000 patients on a yearly basis, in addition to outpatient and same-day treatment also performed.

Modern, well-equipped operating suites fulfill the needs of the General Surgery section of the hospital. Similar surgical suites are also located in the Cardiosurgical Department (established in 1998), the Department of Maxillofacial Surgery, and the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department. Our hospital is the only kidney transplantation centre in the entire region, with these operations being performed by the Vascular and Transplantation Surgery Department.

The Children's Teaching Hospital is the second largest hospital in the city. Its modern equipment and professional teaching staff make up an excellent teaching base for the University's medical students. About 10,000 pediatric patients are hospitalized here yearly, with another 120,000 patients being treated in outpatient pediatric departments.

The Medical University of Białystok also have clinical science departments and research facilities located at the Regional Oncology Centre, the Regional Public Hospital, and the State Psychiatric Hospital.
