Dear Students!

In reference to numerous questions raised by the students and their parents about the flu and the so called “swine flu” outbreak we would like to inform you about the situation in Poland and particularly in Białystok.

In accordance with information provided by the Ministry of Health there is no much risk in Poland for “swine flu” (virus A/H1N1). In consequence, the polish Government has not purchased the vaccines against this flu up to now. However, the student may obtain the vaccines against seasonal flu and get it done at our outpatient clinic.

Nevertheless, media alarm about the raised number of registered cases of “swine flu” in some countries like Norway and Ukraine, and this may be a reason for some of the students to get vaccinated. Since the vaccines are not available in Poland, anyone who wants to get vaccinated will be permitted to go back home in order to perform it. Possible absences (maximum 2 days) might be excused only on the basis of doctor’s note confirming of prescribing and performing the vaccination. The doctor’s note need to be confirmed by the Dean’s Office and a copy of this must be provided to the appropriate departments in order to be excused. All missing classes must be agreed with the departments to be made up at the nearest possible term.
